A second article for a second spinal fracture
When I published my first article here on LinkedIn, I had hoped that my next article would be on a lighter, less morbid subject, but alas this is real life! For those who missed my first article – I was unfortunate enough to have broken my back just over 5 years ago and having finally made a full recovery from my first spinal fracture, I recently sustained a second.
This time it was not because of some big scary car accident, I simply fell a landed awkwardly, however the really unlucky part was that I landed almost exactly onto my previous break. I did not require further surgery and I did not have to wear a back brace, but it did remind me that no matter how careful we are, or how unlucky we have been in the past, there is no guarantee that it won’t happen again.
Which brings me back to the subject of employee benefits. Having yet again benefitted from the extensive benefits package that my employer provides, it has meant that this time round I was back at work within one week of breaking my back (albeit on reduced hours).
Working for a company who provide healthcare benefits not only means that I have quicker access to treatment, but it also makes me feel valued as an individual not just an employee.
On a more positive note, my recent inability to drive has meant I have had more time in the office to plan for the rest of the year, and I am excited to say that there is lots to look forward to over the next few months;
On the 19th September I have been given the opportunity to speak at a seminar, alongside Jason Perry from ASL Recruitment. The seminar is titled “An Employer of Choice” and explores how company directors and business owners can make themselves more attractive to potential new candidates, whilst retaining their top performers and staying ahead of their competition. If you are around on the 19th please feel free to come along – attendance is free, and you can book your place via Eventbrite.
Then, in October we are exhibiting at Employee Benefits Live at the Excel Centre in London. The event takes place over the 1st and 2nd of October and is expected to receive over 2,500 visitors. This will be my first time exhibiting at this particular event, so I am very excited to attend the various seminars and meet the other exhibitors. Registration for this event is also free – visit Employee Benefits Live to secure your place today!
